Gerontocrazia era
originariamente presente nell'album Maledetti
(Mauditis) pubblicato dalla Cramps, ed è una
ninna nanna in greco, la lingua madre di Demetrio Stratos.
Il remix di questo pezzo, pubblicato da Puppet nel disco Flesh Machine, è un mio tributo ad una delle band più seminali del panorama musicale italiano degli anni '70, e probabilmente la più originale che mai il nostro paese, e la musica cosiddetta (erroneamente) "non colta" italiana abbia partorito.
Nella mia modesta opinione la migliore band Italiana di sempre. Un sentito omaggio.

Almost thirty years ago
Demetrio Stratos died in New York. The 13th of June, he left this World
leaving at his back an incredible curriculum vitae, and a vocal
potential really near to the boundaries of reality. In 1979, the 30th
of March, he sang live for the last time, in Monza, an incredible
performance, similar to those he started not a long before, after the
end of his Area experience.
Born of Greek parents, in Alexandria (Egypt) he started his musical life with RIBELLI, one of the most famous Italian bands of the sixties. They were part of the Celentano's Clan, and they become really famous with this new, potential singer with a strong personality. "Pugni Chiusi" and the covers of "Obladì Obladà" and "Yummy Yummy Yummy" were their first hits. But Stratos touches his top with the new, fresh, extreme, radical, and Mediterranean taste of Area. A fundamental discography for every lover of progressive and jazz music.
Still today Area's music sounds fresh and innovative, experimental and exciting, as no many groups of almost thirty years ago...
